Sony has officially announce that the Sony Ericsson X10 will be finally launching in the US. After already receiving a decent reception in Canada, Sony Ericsson is hoping to expand their reach with the X10 in the US. This could do very well depending on if they can manage to get the new software update rolled out in time before launch date. If not, we fear a 1.6 X10 won’t be able to compete with the likes of Droid X’s with 2.1 (and soon to be 2.2).

If you don’t remember the specs are as follows:

  • 1 GHz Snapdragon QSD8250 platform
  • 4 inch capacitive display 480 x 854 pixels WVGA
  • 8.1 megapixel camera with LED flash – up to 16x digital zoom
  • Up to 1 GB ROM (need to confirm this) / No word on RAM
  • Ships with 8 GB micro SD (could vary by carrier)
  • 1,500 mAh battery
  • GPS, Bluetooth, WiFi
  • 3.5 mm audio jack

Release date, carrier and prices have still not been announced yet but we’ll find out soon!

Stay tuned for our full review including a quick video and lots of pictures! (Should be up by tomorrow)

**UPDATED** It will be available August 15th on AT&T for $149.99 on a 2 year contract, with Sony Style selling it for $129.99 or Amazon for $49.99 a week later!
